MercadoLibre's existing "Benefits & Rewards Portal" wasn’t designed to handle the distribution of birthday gift cards. Originally created for refunds, the portal had critical limitations such as inadequate security, the ability to change dates freely, and an inability to confirm employee eligibility. The company faced operational inefficiencies and security risks, prompting the need for a more robust, secure solution.
